A Small Family Business with a Sweet Legacy
For 45 years, THE GENERAL STORE has been an icon on Front Street, representing the friendly hospitality of Historic Beaufort NC. My mom and dad, Ruth and Gerald Moore, opened THE GENERAL STORE with the goal of greeting and serving each guest with the same friendly hospitality that they would provide family in their home.
As we are perhaps best known for our 32 flavors of delicious ice cream, artisan fudge made in-house, and unique Beaufort apparel, it’s our friendly scoopers and our wonderful customers that makes THE GENERAL STORE extra special.
Over the years mom and dad enjoyed watching generations of families visit THE GENERAL STORE for smiles and memories. Dad would beam when a customer told him "I came here as a kid for ice cream. Now I'm bringing my kids!"
Our greatest joy is watching generations of families make THE GENERAL STORE a family tradition.
